In order to guarantee all students in the classroom the excellent educational climate they deserve, it is imperative that certain rules are followed. It is crucial that students demonstrate good character and cooperative skills. Behavior that prevents any student(s) from becoming the best student possible, will not be tolerated. All students must follow directions at all times.
1. Be prepared each day with proper materials (binder, highlighters, pens/pencils, homework, etc.). Students will NOT be allowed to go to their locker for any reason.
2. Respect for others is expected at all times. Respect the opinions and property of others. The use of profanity will not be tolerated.
3. No food or soft drinks will be allowed. Students will be asked to throw away any food or drinks, with the exception of water with a closed lid.
4. Students are not allowed to use media devices during class time, unless they are advised to do so for the lesson. The consequences for any media device seen or heard (i.e. Cell phones, MP3 players, cameras, etc.) are as follows:
1st offense: Media device will be confiscated and will not be returned to the student until
the end of the school day. Student must return to pick up device between
4:00 - 4:15. If student does not pick up device between this time frame, then
the device will be returned to the student the next day, at the beginning of their
class period.
2nd offense: Media device will be confiscated, handed over to the business office, accompanied by a
referral. A parent/guardian must pick up the media device from the business office.
5. Attendance will be taken when the tardy bell rings and submitted at the 20 minute mark. If you are tardy, you will be marked as such.
6. Attendance is crucial to your success in this class. It is the student’s responsibility to secure work from his/her teacher when an excused absence occurs. Students need to meet with their teacher BEFORE or AFTER school, check the “while you were out folder”, or check google classroom/teacher website to receive the assignment(s) they missed. A student will be allowed the same number of days he/she was absent to make up the work assigned during the excused absence. Unexcused absences will result in a zero(s) for any class assignment(s) given that day.
7. Major (long-term) assignments MUST be turned in during student’s class period on the day they are due, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you know you will be absent, please make arrangements to turn in your assignment(s) early or by your class period on the day it is due. If any major (long-term) assignment is turned in after their class period, or any time after that, a grade of a zero will be given.
8. Late work will NOT be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS.
9. Plagiarism and cheating will NOT be tolerated. It is essential that all students participate in the learning process and can demonstrate that participation through their own work and accomplishments. Dishonesty of any kind, with respect to exams and assignments, is considered cheating. Sharing your work with another student IS cheating. Penalties will depend on the situation in which they occur, and will result in a failing grade for that assignment.
9. Consequences for infractions of any rules are as follows:
1: Verbal warning
2: Parent notification
3: Parent notification/Parent conference
4: Parent notification/Referral to A.P. Office
Severe infractions will result in immediate dismissal to A.P. Office.
